Injury management services:
- Independent medical review: Conducted by a specialist (Rehabilitation Specialist or Orthopedic Surgeon) to comment and advise on a treatment plan that will facilitate a safe and sustainable return to work

- Medical legal: Our medical specialists or GPs who have extensive experience in occupational rehabilitation are often asked for advice on matters such as the nature and extent of disability in a work-related injury, or on matters such as retirement on medical grounds.

- Pre-placement and Post-placement Health Assessments: Are designed to ensure that an applicant is medically fit to engage in a specific job. They also establish baselines before a worker enters or leaves a workplace. E.g. Hearing impairment.

o Pre-placement health assessments protect both workers and employers. A worker can be discouraged from taking up a position which is likely to place his or her health at risk. Employers can place workers in positions that correlate with their health and fitness levels, and thus the health and safety of the co-workers can be protected.

o Post-placement health assessments protect the employer from fraudulent claims as a result of the worker’s employment. When the worker finished his/her employment, the Post-Placement health assessments will act as a formal documentation reflecting the status of the worker’s physical and medical condition. This, in return, assists avoidance of claiming for work-related injuries later on.
Our standard pre and post-placement health assessments include:
- Through medical history
- General and musculoskeletal examination
- Hearing test (audiometry) which work out the percentage of hearing loss
- Vision testing
- Screening urinalysis. A urine drug test can be done if required
- Spirometry to assess lung function
Pre-placement health assessments can be tailored to meet the requirements of specific jobs.
Periodic Health Screening
The screening of employees can assist detection of any industrial risks or hazards in the workplace, thus aiding early detection of occupational diseases.
The range of periodic health examinations:
- Skin cancer checks for outdoor workers
- Respiratory function testing (spirometry) for workers exposed to respiratory irritants
- Audiometry
- Biological (blood or urine) monitoring for certain chemical exposures
Hearing Tests (audiometry)
Hearing testing is an essential part of noise management and protection of one’s hearing at work. Results from an audiometry are expressed as a percentage of hearing loss.

Please note that a hearing loss greater than 6% of a particular pattern that suggests noise induced hearing loss, is compensable. The claim will be against the most recent employer.
Lung Function Testing (spirometry)
This test is done routinely as part of our pre and post-placement health assessment. This service can be also provided to those employees who are exposed to respiratory irritants as part of their regular medical assessment.

The test provides objective measurement of lung volumes and airway calibre, which can indicate the presence of otherwise of conditions such as asthma, smoking related lung disease and scarring due to dust exposure.
Education
Health education and preventative medicine are crucial in the workplace. Health promotion focuses in a balanced and healthy lifestyle, which involves dietary advice, quitting smoking and an exercise program. We have qualified dieticians and exercise physiologists who can tailor the services as per the client’s needs.
