On-Site Pathology

All Healthpac centers have pathology departments on site. The pathology department is just a short walk away if a blood test, stool or urine sample etc. is necessary. The results will be sent directly to the doctor. You will be informed by either the nurse or Healthpac reception as to when to return to your doctor for the test results. Healthpac understands their patients have busy schedules, this one stop service is provided for your convenience.

Skin Allergy Test

Also called skin prick testing, is the most convenient and least expensive method of allergy testing. As results are available within 20 minutes, you can discuss the results with your doctor at the time of testing. The test is usually performed on the forearm cleaned with alcohol. A drop of commercially produced allergen extract is placed onto a marked area of skin. Using a sterile lancet, a small prick through the drop is made. This allows a small amount of allergen to enter the skin. If you are allergic to the tested allergen, a small lump (wheal) will appear at the site of testing over the next 10 – 15 mins.

Ultrasound Therapy

Ultrasound therapy is a treatment used to promote tissue healing and it uses pulses of sound waves to penetrate tissues. This has a minor warming effect on the tissues. The sound waves cause expansion and contraction in the tiny gas bubbles of the soft tissues. This helps to decrease the inflammatory response, reducing tissue swelling and thus decreasing pain.

Pap Test

The Pap test (also called Pap Smear) is a quick and simple test that checks for changes to the cells of the cervix that may lead to cervical cancer. All women aged between 18 and 70 years who have ever been sexually active should have a Pap test every two years. During the test, an instrument called a speculum is gently inserted into the vagina. This allows the cervix (the neck of the womb) to be clearly seen. A small spatula or a tiny brush is then inserted to collect cells from the cervix. These cells are smeared onto a glass slide and sent to a laboratory for analysis.

The ECG can help diagnose a range of conditions including heart arrhythmias, heart enlargement, heart inflammation (pericarditis or myocarditis) and coronary heart disease.
